Life is truly a series of unexpected adventures, and we have some exciting news to share! Swim Reedsburg has invited Angel Dreams Studios to go rogue with them! We’re thrilled to be creating a giant mosaic mermaid tail, and we need your help!

If you have any treasures lying around that you’re not using and would like to donate to the cause, we’d be incredibly grateful. And if you’re up for some fun and want to join us in this creative adventure, we’d love to have you on board.

Here’s a little backstory for you: many years ago, I applied to participate in an art show and was rejected. As an artist, I’ve learned that “no” just means “next!” And don’t take rejection to hard. That year, we took a hay wagon ride around the countryside with The Original Mermaid, Eve Foege, and came across a house covered in crocheted plastic bags. It was fine until I read that the artist had created a replica of an invasive plant from Louisiana, which wasn’t exactly fine for Wisconsin. Though it stung a bit—a lot, actually—Eve suggested I let it go. I eventually moved on, sort of.

But my friends at Swim Reedsburg remembered, and this year, we’re making a splash with our rogue mermaid! As we talked about this project we realized this giant mermaid tail is being created not only as rogue art but to honor that wonderful, original Mermaid, Eve. Eve taught herself to swim, swam across Devil’s Lake, and swam for 24 hours straight to raise money for windows for the Girl Scout cabin. All because some nasty old biddy, once told her she was too loud in the pool and couldn’t swim. I miss Eve and all of her greatness,every single day! She truly was a light in this world! Let’s come together, honor our favorite mermaid, have some fun, and create something truly magical.
