About Me

Meet the artist and mastermind behind Angel Dreams Studios, BillieJo Scharfenberg. A true visionary when it comes to the world of art, BillieJo is a creator, teacher, and mentor for those of all ages and abilities. Growing up in Central Wisconsin, BillieJo had several art influences from close family members such as her Grandma Bine, whose medium was ceramic, her mom, who dabbled in all mediums but excelled in quilting, and last but very not least, her Grandma Gerda, who used food as her medium, creating in the kitchen.

The Early Years

After high school, BillieJo ventured out East, spending over 20 years in New England, learning and refining her skills. BillieJo studied fine arts while in New England, and that is where she found her passion and love for stained glass. After graduation, she had the phenomenal opportunity to apprentice at The Glass Source in Seymour, Connecticut, where she honed her technical and design skills. It also provided the springboard for her to accomplish her dream of becoming and having a career as a professional artist.

The Journey Continues

BillieJo’s creative juices have transpired into not only breathtaking pieces of commissioned work; but also solo and juried exhibition pieces. One of her most memorable accomplishments was when she was able to work with a group of artists and physicians to create “Looking In: Organs and How We View Them,” which was exhibited and featured at the one and only Yale School of Art. BillieJo has also assisted with several restoration projects in New England, including the windows at Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton and Beth Israel Synagogue, Orchard Street, New Haven.

The Beginnings of Angel Dreams Studios

Since returning to Wisconsin almost a decade ago, BillieJo has made extraordinary efforts to involve youth in art, including offering art groups for homeschooled youth. From classes to lessons, she has a knack for teaching others what she loves in not only glass but a wide array of mediums. And now, she has a studio of her very own not only to create but share her passion with others. In the fall of 2023, BillieJo and Angel Dreams studio found their home in Lone Rock, one of the many places that helped plant and nurture the seed of a budding artist while she was in her youth.
