Spring Green Banned Book Art Exhibit

Angel Dreams Studios was honored to participate in the Spring Green Literary Festival’s Creative Canvases event—an inspiring community art project rooted in this year’s Community Read theme, “Banned Books.” Artists from across the area came together to create original works that celebrated the power of stories, imagination, and access to literature.

Our studio’s creative canvas was inspired by the 1992 children’s book Draw Me a Star by Eric Carle.

A total of 46 canvases were sold, along with beautiful hand-bound books by Joni Graves, raising $1,525 for local literacy initiatives. We are so proud to have been part of an effort that turns creativity into real-world impact.

The funds raised will support two incredible programs serving children and families in the River Valley area:

Birthday Books provides every 4K through 2nd grade student at River Valley Elementary with a book of their own. Each child is personally invited to the principal’s office to choose a book—an experience that makes reading feel special, personal, and empowering.

Books for Babies supports families with young children through the Spring Green, Plain, and Lone Rock libraries. Families can pick up a bag filled with books for babies, along with information about library cards and early literacy programs like Story Time and Read to a Dog. The goal is to foster a love of reading from the very beginning and connect families with community resources.

We are deeply grateful to the Spring Green Literary Festival Board for organizing this meaningful event, and to everyone who supported the artists and purchased work. It’s a privilege to create alongside such a generous and thoughtful community.
